To Pledge or Not To Pledge?

February 20, 2018Shaughan DolanCampaign News, Mission In Business

At EG, it all starts with the pledge. If you are a business owner, you can pledge to give a percentage of your personal exit proceeds to a charity of your choice.

Why do it?

We believe that entrepreneurial giving breeds entrepreneurial success. By taking our pledge, a business owner can support a charitable cause of their choice while maximising their chances of success.

In his article for Management Today, our founder, Maurice Ostro, shared some valuable insights on the products of purpose.

Businesses and entrepreneurs that embrace good works and embed purpose at their core reap the rewards. Loyalty of employees and customers alike is improved by the feeling of a mission and purpose. In an age where principles and integrity have a real financial return, dedicating a percentage of profits or giving a voice to a cause can really pay.

This is backed up by some astonishing research. A study by Meaningful Brands found that 75% of consumers believe that brands should do more to impact positively on our wellbeing, but that only 40% of brands actually do so.

Maurice discussed exemplary cases, such as Lush Cosmetics, who have benefitted hugely from embedding purpose at the heart of their business. They have experienced a huge jump in profits, as well as increased consumer and employee approval.

Here at EG, we are giving entrepreneurs the tools to put purpose first. We believe that doing good and doing well go hand-in-hand. With a simple pledge, we want to create a community of purpose-driven entrepreneurs.
