Businesses must embrace purpose and motivate their workforce. This was the message from today’s op-ed in Real Business magazine by our founder, Maurice Ostro.
Citing stats from the Edelman Trust Barometer, Maurice told us that 60% of the UK population believe the current system is not working for them. He also brought in a survey from PwC that 88% of millennials want to work for a company whose values match their own, while stats from Neilsen show that 66% of consumers are willing to pay more for meaningful brands.
Taken all together, these stats reinforce the need for entrepreneurs to embed purpose at the heart of their business right from the start. As Maurice put it:
At Entrepreneurial Giving, we want to encourage the entrepreneurs of the future to embrace purpose and look for ways to embed it at the heart of their business models from the start.
Purpose needs to be at the very core of every business plan. We encourage our children to consider moral and ethical issues from an early age – businesses should not be exempt from this fundamental lesson.
For a business to attract and retain top talent, motivate their workforce to full potential and succeed in a consumer market, they must put purpose on their agenda.
Luckily, EG provides businesses with a tool to commit to a purpose beyond profit. On our website, the pledge page details how you can pledge and the range of benefits that it can have for your business. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us by email or twitter!
